What Is Urea Used For

The chemical compound Urea is used for many different types of scientific research. It is naturally created in the urine of most animals and it can be isolated but the process is usually inefficient. Urea can also be synthesized and is widely used in fertilizers and feed products. Buying urea is only really done online or through a local manufacturer. When I’m asked what is urea used for I usually say that it is used to reduce emissions for diesel-powered vehicles. Mercedes is the only car company that is using the compound currently. They have adapted their own version called AdBlue. AdBlue is used being injecting into the exhaust stream to help the catalytic converters reduce the black soot usually equated with diesel engines.

Buying urea is mostly only available when purchasing fertilizer. Normally buying urea must be done in bulk. I’m sure there will be an explosion for what urea is used for in the near future.
