Electric Vehicle Motors
Electric vehicles are powered by an electric motor instead of a gas engine. The gasoline engine is replaced by an electric motor that gets its power from a controller. The controller gets its power from rechargeable batteries that can be plugged in or powered up by driving the vehicle.
Hybrid-electric vehicles use a combination of gasoline engines and electric motors to get batter gas mileage and increase power. Regenerative braking uses resistance to the drivetrain in order to convert braking energy into electricity, which is stored in the batteries.
Hybrid Vehicle Motors also use automatic start and shut off, which means the car shuts off when the car comes to a stop and starts up again when the gas pedal is pressed. With the assistance of electric motors, hybrids are able to use smaller more efficient engines and pump out less of the harmful emissions that cause global warming.
