How Do Hybrid Cars Help The Environment?
Hybrid cars are the start of something really big in this country. The infusion of electric power and gasoline is the beginning of a movement toward a future of cleaner air and less pollution caused problems. You’ve all been at one point walking down the street when all of a sudden a giant gas guzzling truck passes you, englufing you in exhaust. These fumes cause birth defects, cancer of all sorts and they make it hard to breathe in general. We all know that less emissions is a good starting point in the direction of cleaners air.
When a hybrid car uses less gas to function, it emits less of these carcenogens. The tires on a hybrid are usually hooked up to a battery that stores the braking energy allowing the car to drive furthur. Some hybrids run on only electric for a certain amount of time. Even these advancements in hybrid technology arent enough to stop the effects of global warming. But with stricter emission laws being put into place, we can eventually get to the point of being fully independent from oil. We have the technology now, but unfortunately there is still a lot of money to be made from gasoline.
The use of urea in the exhaust line is a recent advancment in hybrid cars. When urea is injected into the stream of exhaust, the emissions are less because the air molecules are mixed with the urea. But this is only for diesel engines. The true test of any culture only happens when we are faced with a test of strength. It is our test to use our cars less. Hybrid Cars arent going to save us from global warming. But it is a good place to start. So when the question How Do Hybrid Cars Help The Environment is posed, my first thought is that they are playing a very small role in the bigger picture of global health. Really though, the only way we can help the environment is to be aware of the effects we are having on our planet.
