2010 Hybrid Prius Review

The 2010 Hybrid Prius is bigger and faster than its predecessor. 98 horsepower is pretty far from that of a corvette, but with the Prius’ lightweight body and 4-cylinder engine, it can still get up and go. The previous version of this hatchback had only 75 horsepower.  Combine gas and electric horsepower and you get up to 130 horsepower. There’s also rumor of a new Prius model with a 2-cylinder engine possibly hitting the market. And the concept has been introduced of having a 3.0 liter gas engine, which really makes me laugh.

The continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) is a standard on the 2010 Hybrid Prius and the fuel efficiency has been improved drastically. Toyota has been hailed as the “green car” leader and this hybrid defiantly backs that statement up. Toyota was estimating 48 mpg but the reports are saying they’ve overshot that number. Front and curtain side airbags are included and there are options to upgrade on features like keyless entry and starting.

The 2010 Hybrid Prius has set the standard on Hybrid vehicles, but with the new hybrid Chevy Malibu and the Hybrid Cadillac coming our way, can Toyota stay on top of the mountain?
