The answer to who makes solar powered cars is a Swedish company named Koenigsegg. The Quant is Koenigsegg’s superfast zero-emission electric car that uses thin layers of solar panels to power the duel electric motors. The Quant has a top end at 171 mph pushed by a 512 horsepower engine that can be recharged in 20 minutes if there isn’t any sun to be found. The Quant will run for over 300 miles on one charge and combined with the solar power and regenerative braking systems, the range goes even longer. It just goes to show that what the major car companies are giving us isn’t at all what the potential of current technology allows. They are slowing introducing the idea of electric and hydrogen cars in order to make as much money off of gasoline that they can. Too bad you or I will never be able to afford The Quant, its incredibly sexy for a solar powered car.
